Vascular corrosion casts and plastinated slices were used for examining the vascular supply of the digit in the horse. It was shown that two veins attend the artery of the arcus terminalis inside the canalis solearis of the distal phalanx. The two veins are coupled with the corresponding artery in between them. Four to five arteries with a distal course and two arteries with a proximal course originate from the terminal vascular arch. These vessels run through the phalanx distalis towards its surface where they supply the corium. The terminal arch and its coupled veins are said to have a circulatory promoting effect.
